It seems that this miserable day which started with Australia's unfair exit from the World Cup is just continuing to be more disappointing!

Browsing the news on the web, I found this report on an interview with Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books...(the news are not very pleasant!)

Harry Potter may perish in the final installment of the boy wizard series in which two main characters die, author JK Rowling hinted in a television interview.

Speaking on Monday evening, Joanne Kathleen Rowling, 40, said she was well on the way to finishing the eagerly-awaited seventh Potter book.

"I wrote the final chapter in something like 1990, so I've known exactly how the series is going to end," she told a chat show on Britain's Channel 4.

"The final chapter is hidden away although it's now changed very slightly. One character got a reprieve. But I have to say two die that I didn't intend to die," Rowling said.

"A price has to be paid, we are dealing with pure evil here. They don't target extras, do they? They go for the main characters — well, I do."

Asked whether one of the casualties would be Potter himself, Rowling said she had never been tempted to kill off the magician before the finale.

At the same time, she added: "I can completely understand, however, the mentality of an author who thinks, 'Well I'm gonna kill them off because that means there can be no non-author written sequels. So it will end with me and after I'm dead and gone they won't be able to bring back the character'."

The author said she did not want to commit herself either way on Potter's fate, telling interviewers Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan: "I don't want the hate mail, apart from anything else."

Speaking of her life as a famous writer, Rowling admitted to having been in denial during the unprecedented success of her first three books on the adventures of Potter and his friends at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

"That's where my reputation for being po-faced comes from. I was like a rabbit caught in the headlights," she said.

Rowling, who shot to fame from humble roots, also revealed that she still writes in cafes and based the character of Potter's good friend Hermione on a combination of herself and her sister when they were young.

As for the future after Potter, Rowling said: "I don't think I'm ever going to have anything like Harry again. You just get one like Harry."

The first six books in the series have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide and been translated into 63 languages.

The first four have also been made into blockbuster movies.

The seventh novel is reportedly due to be published next year at the earliest.

I hope she changes her mind, becasue it would be so traumatic to see Harry, Harmoine or Ron die!  smile/pcrying.gif

She say either : " I'm not sure Harry will die , you will strangle me " ( exact!) And when Conan Doyle killed Sherlock Holmes , readers were so upset that he have to ressucit him ( arf!)

Well then we better think of a special "petroneus" spell that can be used to revive Harry, Harmione or Ron if she killed any of them!  http://djinspace.nuxit.net/bossmign.gif

But on another hand, Harry and his mates won't be able to be "young" wizards, and the actors play the young wizards anylonger... because they're physically changing... so it's a little bit kinda "logical/normal" that maybe some will die... and kinda finish the history of Harry Potter and Hermione and Ron...

It's of course a personal hypothesis...  http://djinspace.nuxit.net/horosanim6ea73cn.gif

But what's sure is that now (since let's say the 4th book), the history of Harry Potter is becoming darker and darker... and not really for children anymore!!

Yeah, I agree!

But I guess Harry and his mates will only be 17-18 years old in the seventh book. It still would be sad to see any of them die at this age (the death of Sidrek at this age in the 4th part was an unexpected shocker). But in real life, many die at this age anyway.

It just would be sad to see a loved character die, however young or old he/she is. But Rowling is entitled to make the story go whatever way she wants. It's her fiction, and she's the author.

I always thought she would kill Harry in the last book... don't know why but somehow it's logical: especially if it ends with a duel between him and Voldemort!

However now that he's in love with someone I really like, it would be extremely painful to witness his death... Likewise, I would never bear the death of Ron or Hermione!!!  smile/chirol_gaan.gif They're my two favorite characters from the very beginning so it would really be a terrible ending if it was the case... smile/pcrying.gif smile/pcrying.gif

But anyway, she's the writer so... we can only wait and see... http://djinspace.nuxit.net/hikaru_smiley.gif

No, allow me to disagree.......DF doesn't look good just beacuse of his "long hair", its his facial features that determine that. He looks great in his helmet when you can't see his hair! Besides it's not just his facial features and appearance that make him appealing to the eyes, but his personality has an effect too.  http://djinspace.nuxit.net/icoacta.gif

But personally, on the general level I don't like men with long hair particulary if it is too long. But every person has to be independantly assessed, because the same hair style or length doesn't suit every person or every face. Some men look great in longer hair, others look better in shorter hair styles. Same for women. In the end it is more than just looks that count in an individual, and there is more to a person than a hair style.
