C'est Le Faucon du Grand Prix (ou l'Aigle? J'arrive pas a lire le kanji), jamais passe en France (et sans doute Quebec non plus) donc peu doivent connaitre ici.

Yes, Amigoface, I know this series. It was dubbed in Arabic under the name of الجائزة الكبرى = The Grand Prix. It was aired in UAE in the 1980s after Grendizer, once only probably and was never re-aired. I don't know why but it wasa good show and I used to like it. Truly, I don't remember the story in detail but I do recall that it involved an impossible lovestory between Takaya and a spanish girl called Isabelle at the same time that a close friend of his secretly and deeply loved him too, and also Takaya competing to win the race despite all odds.

By the way LVD and Stephane, according to the above site THERE WAS a French version in which the hero was renamed as Johnny Tornade. Interestingly there isa detailed list of the French cast members and their roles!!!!!!

I LOVED Grand Prix. It's in my top ten of japanese anime.

Produced in 1977 by Toei, it shares part of the production team with Grendizer (Keisuke Fujikawa as scrïptwriter) and Harlock (Rin Taro as executive director).

Suzi, the girl secretely in love with Takaya (and who in the end will win his heart) is named Suzuko. There is another layer in the story: Takaya's relationship with his father - who he supposed dead but instead find as a worker in the Fomule1 team.

I knew that her name had something in common with mine!!  
She was my favourite character in the series.

The Grand Prix was one of my favourite anime too, but I have only seen it only once at a fairly young age so I couldn't remember it in detail.
