IMHO, Antérak 34 wasn't constructed by Vega Forces but just like Grendizer, factured on a defeated planet. It was Gauss' personal machine.

By the way, another mercenary combated Grendizer with an non-Vegan robot: Atlas/Harook.
In the flasback scene near the end of that episode, he’s shown as the hero of his planet. We can see him participating with his bat in a war against an unknown enemy and destroying some saucers. This war happened before the big Vegan invasion.
